Wynns Coonawarra Estate was founded by pioneer John Riddoch, who planted vineyards in 1891. Today the winery is still home to both the iconic, triple-gabled winery and the Coonawarra railway 'siding'. Located on the terra rossa strip, Wynns is noted for producing fruit of exceptional quality, notably Cabernet Sauvignon.
Completed in 1898, the railway siding has a long history with Wynns, playing an important role to the fledging settlement of Coonawarra, transporting around 600 hogsheads a year to Adelaide in the late 1800s.
Senior winemaker Sue Hodder says, "the aim of this wine is to deliver an affordable Cabernet Sauvignon, showcasing exceptional varietal and regional characteristics of red cherry, mint and dark berry flavours, while gentle tannins will further reward from short to medium-term cellaring".
