With lower yielding crops of small, intensely flavoured berries delivering generous fruit character, the 2011 Chandon Vintage Brut continues our commitment to excellence. This wine reflects the benefits of multi-regional sourcing, seamlessly upholding its elegant, refined appeal.
Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes were primarily selected from Yarra Valley vineyards, where the lower crops and fastidious viticulture delivered fruit showing ripe fruit characters and gentle acidity. In addition, grapes from Tasmania, King Valley and Chandon’s Strathbogie Vineyard added further diversity and complex fruit flavours to this blend. Our focus on elevation above sea level, meticulous viticulture and cool vineyard locations is revealed in wines showing bright flavours and crisp natural acidity. The spring which preceded the 2011 growing season was exceptionally cool with above average spring rainfall. These conditions established healthy and balanced vine canopies. Cool temperatures continued through the summer months with Chardonnay benefiting from an extended ripening period. A challenging season in terms of weather, this Vintage Brut release has great character, finesse and surprising richness as a result of the long, cool ripening conditions.
